Question : I have a 2-year Acer Aspire 3000 Laptop which will no longer boot. Upon power-up, the power light immediately begins blinking (yellow). There is no activity on the screen and no sounds. It almost appears that the unit is hibernating. I tried removing the main aspire 3000 battery and disconnecting the power-adapter in conjunction with holding down the power button for 60-seconds, in the hope of forcing a normal reboot. I have removed and reseated the RAM and now want to try removing and replacing the CMOS battery. However, i cannot find where the battery is located. I checked under the keyboard and underneath by the SIMMS. So, my question is: Where is the CMOS battery located?Any recommendations on how to get this laptop to boot, or how to replace the CMOS battery will be very much appreciated.
Answer : Apparently, the RTC/CMOS battery itself is under (or next to) the heatsink for the CPU; but, it is also just a coin battery in heatshrink with two wires (red and black) and the connector ought to be visible near the heatsink with the keyboard removed.
