Questoin : Inspiron 9200. Cannot power up system. Plug adapter in and green light comes on. Push power button and A lock icon blinks green about 10 times and shuts down.
Answer : Start by checking the power supply with an ohm meter for the correct output, however, this is generally a problem with the dell 9200 battery or a memory chip. Start by removing the laptop battery and starting up on the power supply only. Dell batteries are notorious for causing a no start. Then try removing the memory and try one chip at a time in both slots. If none of these work, then I'm afraid you have a failed system board component, and you will probably want to take it in for a professional diagnostics. Also, you can find a diagnostics light codes list for your machine at Dell's support site.
Question: Where to buy replacement dell inspiron 9200 batteries ?

get rid of Dreaded blue screen of death
Question :
My Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop is showing, STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down. How do I go about by repairing this? And if so can I just start all over and reinstall Windows XP? But I do not have the disk and my warranty for this dell ended in November. PLEASE HELP!!!! Is there anyway to start from scratch without CD? And can I use any Windows CD??
Solution:
If you have 2 memory sticks in system, remove one and try it. If you have the green recovery disk that dell sends with their systems, place in drive and have it boot. Select "R" for repair drive. Then select "1" then enter your admin password. If you did not place one on system, just hit enter. Then at the C:\WinNT directory, type chkdsk /r then hit enter, and have chkdsk look for drive errors.

4 Tips to Extend Your Lithium Battery Life
4 Tips to Extend Your Lithium Battery Life
Lithium batteries seem to be everywhere these days. We can find them in our cellphones, laptops, portable media players and etc. We all want to make our batteries ( laptop batteries , camcorder batteries , digital camera batteries , pda batteries , two way radio batteries et ) last as long as possible, but some well intentioned advice from friends, could be harming your Lithium battery’s life span.
1. Battery Memory - When I first got my new cellphone, my friend recommended to fully drain the battery before recharging it. His reasoning was connected to the idea of battery memory. Allowing the battery to fully discharge then recharging to max, supposedly gives you the complete battery capacity. Otherwise, if you simply charged from the half way point to max battery capacity, the battery would treat the half way point as the empty point, thus cutting your battery capacity in half.
Problem is battery memory doesn’t apply to Lithium batteries, this advice was meant for Nickel based batteries. Fully discharging your Lithium battery frequently can actually be quite harmful to your battery’s health, possibly rendering it completely unusable if energy levels go too low.
The good news is today’s lithium batteries have a safety circuit in place to insure the battery doesn’t reach the point of no return. The safety circuit isn’t fool proof of course, if you leave your battery completely drained for a few days, even the circuit’s protective measures won’t save it.
2. Battery Calibrating - There is some benefits to fully discharging your lithium battery periodically, for laptops this can be especially important. If you start to notice your battery meter is becoming more and more inaccurate, it may be time for some battery calibration. By allowing your lithium battery to fully drain, this will help the battery recalibrate allowing for more accurate measurements of battery life. This should be done once every 30 charges or when you notice battery readings are off.
3. Consequences of Heat - Another enemy of Lithium battery life is heat. If you were to leave your laptop plugged in and running for a year, you should expect the lithium battery capacity to be anywhere between 60% to 80% of it’s original max capacity. This is why people that use their laptops as desktop replacements will notice greatly reduced battery life performance after one year of use. This issue can be resolved by removing the battery while using a corded power source. Now you may want to check with your manufacturer ahead of time to check for safety concerns, some manufacturers have mentioned problems such as moisture and dust collecting in the battery casing.
4. Battery Storage - If you plan on not using the Lithium battery ( such as lithium ion camcorder batteries ) for prolonged periods of time, then you’ll want to have the charge level at 40% and place the battery in the fridge (not freezer). Storing the battery at 100% charge level applies unnecessary stress and can cause internal corrosion. On the other hand, if the charge is too low, the battery can become permanently unusable, due to battery self discharge. This is why manufacturers recommend storing your Lithium battery at 40% charge, rather than either extreme.

Conserving Digital Camera Battery Power
5 Tips for Conserving Camera Battery Power
Running out of battery power can be one of the most annoying aspects of digital photography.
Too many times in the past have I experienced taking the time to set up a shot or needing to use my camera in the heat of the moment, only to find that the battery didn’t have enough power left to capture the moments that I wanted to photograph.
You can imagine my frustration when I miss the photo opportunity because of the camera battery.
Now, instead of carrying spare digital camera batteries with me in case this happened, I decided to research into the area of conversing camera battery power. I share what I learnt with you in this article in the hope of helping you to avoid such annoying situations!
Tip 1: Keep LCD Use to a Minimum
The part of your digital camera that uses up the most power is without a doubt the LCD screen. Every time you open up this digital display you are presented with a view of what the camera sees in real-time, meaning that the display has to be refreshed multiple times every second to show you a fluent-moving picture. Keeping usage of the LCD screen to a minimum will definitely help a freshly charged battery last much longer!
Tip 2: Manage Photos While Your Batteries Charge
Another easy way to cut down on the amount of power drained from your batteries is to wait until you can plug your camera into an AC adapter before you start to manage your photos. This is an important tip to remember - you may enjoy cropping, deleting, and viewing your photos on the go, but it will leave you with much less power to take photos if you do so.
Tip 3: Try Not to Use the Memory Card
This tip goes hand in hand with the previous one, but also plays an important factor in keeping enough juice in your camera batteries to take those important photos! It uses up a lot of power every time that you access the memory card, so keep this in mind before reviewing every photo that you take while relying solely on battery power.
Tip 4: Don’t Mix Different Types of Batteries
Keeping the same types of batteries together can help to conserve power in digital cameras as well as most other battery-powered devices. This is mostly because the performance of older batteries will not be as good as newer ones, and they will drain much faster. Another important reason to remember this tip is that mixing different types of batteries can be dangerous – the batteries can become damaged and even leak, which in turn could end up damaging your digital camera.
Tip 5: Let Batteries Run Out
Letting batteries completely run out of power before recharging them can help them to last longer as well as increase their performance. Something that people tend to forget is that just because your batteries aren’t holding enough energy to run your camera it doesn’t mean that they are entirely empty of power. You can make sure that your batteries are as empty as possible before recharging them by leaving them in an old radio or a flashlight that is turned on until they run down.
