HP released another new notebook under DV series, the HP Pavilion DV9000 which is powered by a Mobile AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processor running on Microsoft Windows XP Professional with an optional choices of Windows XP Home or Windows XP media Center Edition 2005. It boasts a 17-inch WXGA+ TFT LCD with resolutions of 1440 x 900 and an optional of WXGA+ Ultra BrightView or WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) BrightView display, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 discrete graphics with 256MB dedicated DDR2 VRAM, dual hard disk drive option with combined capacity up to 240GB and an integrated wireless support for 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN as well as Bluetooth technology which is only available on certain models. In addition, it also has a built-in 5-in-1 digital media card reader, four USB 2.0 ports, ExpressCard 54 slot and integrated Altec Lansing stereo speakers. Dual stereo headphone jacks with high-definition audio support (S/PDIF capable) and HP webcam with integrated dual stereo microphones would be an add-on choice. DV9000 has a larger screen than the DV6000 but the specifications are not good enough. If i am given the choice to choose, i would go for HP Pavilion DV6000, the one which i mention earlier ago. DV9000 weights only 7.8 lbs. No words on the availability and pricing yet.

The HP dv8000 is a desktop replacement, 17-inch widescreen notebook that comes with either the AMD Turion-64 or the Intel Core Duo processor. The dv8000 is a thinner and lighter replacement for HP's previous 17-inch widescreen zd8000, and like the rest of the dv- family, comes in a two-tone, light gray and black color scheme. While it falls short of the top-of-the-line, 17-inch Dell and Toshiba models that include features like dedicated graphics and integrated TV tuners, the dv8000 is more than sufficient for most people. With good build quality, a beautiful screen, large storage options, numerous ports, and a price near $1,000, the dv8000 is an excellent value.

The dv8000 follows the same stylistic elements as its older dv-series counterparts. The two-tone case is light gray on exterior facing surfaces and black on interior surfaces. Most of the ports are located on either side of the machine for easy access, and are conveniently labeled on the keyboard surface facing the user. Power and volume buttons reside above the keyboard, as well as buttons for launching the included HP QuickPlay software, a wireless switch, and a button for Windows Calculator. All of the buttons are backlit with blue light except the wireless indicator, which stands alone in the hinge of the screen. Blue indicator lights are also provided for NUM and CAPS lock on the keyboard, and for power and drive usage on the front panel.
The build quality is generally good, with little keyboard flex and a screen that stays well in place. It does not have the indestructible feel of the ThinkPads, but compares as well as or better than most of the mainstream notebooks on the market. My unit came with several scratches on the keyboard and one faint grease stain on the cover.
The specified weight for the dv8000 is 8.1 lbs, which is about 10% lighter than the zd8000 but still fairly hefty. The width and length is large enough that carrying it around generally requires purchase of an extra-large notebook case, but at least it is relatively thin for a desktop replacement. Still, because of its heft and dimensions, this is not a notebook that you will want to carry around everywhere you go.
For reference, below is a top and side view of the dv8000z underneath a Toshiba Satellite M45 underneath a Thinkpad X40.

Nikon Coolpix 775 Overview
Nikon gave us our first glimpse of the 775 behind closed doors at PMA 2001, it was announced a little later at the same time as the Coolpix 995. The ultra-compact 775 features a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.1 megapixel CCD, its small proportions, plastic case and lightweight lithium battery makes it one of the lightest digital cameras on the market today, it tips the scales at just 230g (8 oz) fully loaded.
The Coolpix 775 joins the Coolpix 700, 800 and 880 as part of the more compact side of the Coolpix range. It's the first ultra-compact Coolpix, its small proportions and light weight put it in that category. Clearly aimed at the first time buyer or size conscious end of the market. With a street price of approximately $450 it's up against the likes of Canon's PowerShot A20, Olympus D-510Z and the new Kodak DX's.
The 775 is designed to be small, pocketable and extremely easy to use.. With a straightforward Auto mode and seven preprogrammed exposure modes which configure the camera for optimum use in different types of scene you don't need to be a shutterbug to use this camera. This means of course that there isn't the normal Coolpix wide range of manual options, although you can still control white balance (including a manual preset), exposure compensation and sharpening. The 775 also has a movie mode which is limited to 15 second clips without audio.

canon powershot g1 review
The G1 is a direct competitor to Nikon's 990 and Olympus's C-3030Z, it has a completely different form-factor to the Pro 70 (it's more like the S range) and doesn't feature Canon's recently announced 10x optical zoom stabilised digital camera lens.
The G1 is slightly larger and heavier than the S10/S20 size but still smaller than some of its competition. The G1 appeared sporting all the features many people had been begging for, a flip-out and twist LCD, RAW file format, Microdrive compatibility, flash hot-shoe, lots of manual features.. The question is was Canon a few months too late to capture the prosumer 3 megapixel market or will the G1 make its mark in digital camera history?
